OpsX Kiosk: gate attendance for factories and offices
One Android tablet at the gate. Each person enters their employee code and PIN and sees a clear confirmation on screen. The kiosk keeps working when the internet does not, and every punch reaches attendance and payroll.
Why a kiosk instead of everyone's phone
On a factory floor, many workers do not carry a smartphone into the plant, and shared shifts arrive all at once. A kiosk gives every person the same way in: walk up, enter the code and PIN, see it confirmed, walk on.
What the kiosk does
- Code and PINEach employee has a PIN, so a punch is tied to the person who knows it.
- Clear confirmationThe screen shows whose punch was recorded, so a wrong code is noticed at the gate, not on salary day.
- Works offlinePunches are queued on the tablet and sent when the network returns, with their original time.
- Kiosk modeThe tablet stays on the attendance screen; staff cannot wander into other apps.
- Always-on screen careBurn-in protection for a display that is on all day.
- One recordKiosk punches join app and biometric punches in the same attendance, then payroll.
Kiosk, biometric machine or mobile app?
Use the kiosk where many people share one entrance and phones are not allowed or not carried. Keep a biometric device where you already have one — its punches come into OpsX too. Give the OpsX Partner app to staff who work away from the site. Most companies use two of the three.
What about face recognition?
Face verification is offered as an enterprise pilot. It runs on the device; the face image is never sent to our servers. Attendance works today on code and PIN, geofence and biometric devices — face is an addition, not a requirement.
Questions
What hardware does the kiosk need?
An Android tablet (Android 8.0 or later) mounted at the entrance, with power. Internet is needed to sync, not to punch.
What happens when the internet is down?
The kiosk keeps taking punches and sends them when the network returns, with the time each punch was made.
Can one kiosk serve several shifts?
Yes. The kiosk records the punch; shift rules decide whether it is on time, late or overtime.
